- replaced paramilitary wall murals with human rights focused murals – all developed and painted by young people - produced educational resource materials for use throughout Ireland analysing the nature and causes of the conflict - designed and delivered a programme to support people in discovering their many ‘identities’ beyond those they inherit via the ‘Troubles’ - designed and delivered a Human Rights curriculum for use in schools |
Zambiasupporting education
- Worked at village level in rural Zambia to promote human rights awareness and activities. - Drafted and published needed human rights and HIV and AIDS materials in the 7 local languages. - Worked with local village youth HIV and AIDS clubs to promote awareness and action on the issue. - Supported the development of a human rights education handbook with a particular emphasis on women’s rights. In Zambia, we work alongside our Zambian partners – Women for Change. This work is supported by Development Cooperation Ireland (the Irish Government’s overseas development programme), Concern and Aidlink. |
Irelandpromoting active citizenship
Recently for example, we have: - Produced the best-selling educational resource 80:20 Development in an unequal world – now used internationally in South Africa, Australia, the UK, the US, Zambia and, of course Ireland. - Worked with young people to explore issues such as genocide, the arms trade, women’s rights and their relevance to Ireland. - Supported a project on young people and the 2004 European and local council elections. - Worked in partnership with others to create the internet site – www.developmenteducation.ie |
